If you’ve watched the news or been on social media at all in the last year you’ve no doubt heard mention of Bitcoin, Doge, NFTs, and Cryptocurrency. Some say it’s going to totally replace our current financial system, others say it’s only for terrorists and criminals. As the saying goes, there’s always two sides to every story, and the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
But how much of each side of the story do you really know? If someone were to start a conversation with you about Cryptocurrency, do you feel like you could keep up? If the answer is no then you’ve clicked on the right article. Crypto can be a confusing space to navigate, and when I started in crypto I would quickly find myself lost in a sea of information I couldn’t get a handle on (and if I’m being honest that still happens sometimes). That’s why I want to share 5 of my favourite resources for learning about everything crypto.
I’m going to order these assuming you know nothing about cryptocurrency, so I recommend starting at number 1, then going through the rest.
- Decrypt — Learn
In my opinion, this is the best place to start to learn about the crypto industry. Their guides are clearly written, easy to understand, the UX of the site is great, with different filter options for guides, and they have information on basically anything you could possibly want to know about crypto. If you just want to know enough to be in the loop and carry on conversations with your friends this is literally all you need, and if you want to really dig in and learn more or get involved, this is the place to start. I come back to this site at least once a week just to see what they’ve added and to brush up on any projects in which I’m not well versed.
2. Binance Academy

The biggest crypto exchange is also a great place to go to learn about crypto, who would have thought? Binance Academy is another great place to start if you’re coming in to this with little to no understanding of crypto. I personally prefer decrypt, but each are incredible resources and either one will get you up to speed on all of the important information. A big selling point for Binance is they offer all of their resources and tools in 21 different languages, so if you’re more comfortable learning in a language other than English this might be a better place for you to start.
3. Upfolio
Once you feel like you understand the fundamentals of crypto, it’s time to check out Upfolio. The subhead on their homepage states “Live Data | Quick Summaries | Social Stats” which gives you a good idea of what they offer. If you need some information on a new coin but don’t want to dig into dense documentation, they provide insightful overviews. If you want to look at prices and chart trends over the day, week, and month, they have that clearly laid out. It’s a great platform to start getting used to watching price action and volume in a way that (in my opinion) is a little easier than candle charts for those just getting started.
4. Cryptomaniaks — Glossary
https://cryptomaniaks.com/cryptocurrency-glossary
Cryptomaniaks have put together an amazing A-Z list of terms and definitions that cover anything you might need to know on your crypto journey. Most of the definitions are short, and great for reference or as a starting point. I would recommend jumping into this after you’ve read through the other previous resources as you’ll need to know how crypto projects work and what’s in them to be able to apply the definitions in this list. While most of the definitions are short, for more complex topics they’ve included longer definitions and even video explanations.
5. The Whitepaper Database
https://www.allcryptowhitepapers.com
The Whitepaper Database is an incredible resource for digging deep into crypto projects. These papers contain a lot of very advanced information, and they are not for the casual crypto enthusiast. But if you really are in it for the tech, and understanding how a project works is important to you, or if you want to start building on blockchain yourself, whitepapers will provide some of the most comprehensive information on what goes into a crypto project.
That’s it! If you’ve made it to the end, congratulations, you’re ready to be annoying at parties. If you didn’t made it to the end, that’s okay, you’ll still know more about cryptocurrency than most. Although if you haven’t made it this far you probably aren’t reading this, so who am I talking to?
Shrödinger’s clickbait.
